Gary Neville is expected to be in Manchester United's squad for their Premier League summit meeting with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, if he emerges unscathed from a seven-month injury lay-off in an outing for United's reserves tonight.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has arranged for Neville to play in the Manchester Senior Cup tie against Stockport County at Northwich Victoria's Victoria Stadium, less than 48 hours before the clash with Arsene Wenger's unbeaten Premier League leaders.
Neville, 32, has been sidelined with ankle and calf injuries since limping out of the 4-1 Old Trafford victory against Bolton Wanderers on March 17.
The England defender was due to return to action in a reserve game against Liverpool three weeks ago, but a lack of match fitness prompted Ferguson to abandon that initial comeback plan.
