Sir Alex backs Reds

Sir Alex Ferguson and his young princes are planning to party like it’s 1999 on their way to Champions League glory. For the first time since that Treble-winning year, boss Fergie is convinced Manchester United have the depth of talent to conquer Europe again. In fact, he believes the current squad — with Cristiano Ronaldo, 23, Wayne Rooney, 22, and Nani, 21 — is his best ever. Ferguson said: “We have only won the European Cup once in my time at Old Trafford so that tells you how difficult it is. In that respect it is going to be hard but we have the players who can make us successful. They are confident about expressing themselves and they enjoy playing. They are not afraid of challenges and there is enough youth in the team to make them ambitious and want to get there. This is probably my best squad ever in terms of completeness.”
